TAHITI — Two full-time missionaries for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints were injured in a recent hit-and-run accident.

They were riding their bicycles and were hit by a driver who fled the scene.

The missionaries, one from Orem and another from Tahiti, each suffered a broken leg, a church spokesman said. They were apparently struck from behind as two cars may have been racing across a bridge.

They were treated at a local hospital and later released. Both are expected to fully recover.

Police are still trying to track down the drivers. Additional details were not available Tuesday.
