Utah Lake Symposium is Wednesday at UVU

OREM — Biologists, community partners and the public are invited to hear about and participate in discussions on restoring the health of Utah Lake's ecosystem at the fifth annual Utah Lake Symposium Wednesday at Utah Valley University.

Different topics will include the June sucker recovery program, status of the carp removal, Utah Lake's food web, restoration of lower Hobble Creek and the proposed Utah Lake bridge. The symposium will go from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at UVU's Library auditorium, room Ll120, with speakers from the Utah Department of Natural Resources; Utah Attorney General's Office; Utah Lake Commission; and Utah Division of Forestry, Fire and State.

The keynote speaker will be former president and CEO of the Great Lakes Commission, Michael Donahue. He is the vice president of URS Corp.'s Water Resources and Environmental Services and will discuss watershed governance and the lessons he learned on the Great Lakes Commission.
