A California woman was flown in critical condition to a Salt Lake City hospital Sunday, Utah Highway Patrol troopers said.

Dana George, 55, had stopped at a stop sign at an intersection about 5:30 p.m. and turned south from state Route 12 onto U.S. 89 near Panguitch into the path of a semitrailer heading north on U.S. 89, UHP trooper Kevin Wright said.

The semitrailer continued north and rolled over, sliding through a fence and up a dirt embankment.

George was ejected from her vehicle. She was later flown to the Salt Lake City trauma center from Garfield Memorial Hospital.

Two passengers, both from California, were transported to Garfield Hospital with injuries, Wright said.

The driver of the semitrailer, Larry Bowens of Phoenix, was also transported to Garfield Hospital for treatment of injuries.

The accident is still under investigation. Wright said all victims were wearing seat belts.
