Sheep litter highway after truck tips over
Little Bo Peep wasn't the only one who lost her sheep.
U.S. 189 was filled with about 200 sheep after a livestock trailer tipped near Heber City Sunday morning, the Utah Highway Patrol reported.
The driver was traveling north on U.S. 189 when he became distracted and ran off the road to the right. The driver then overcorrected and the truck and trailer tipped on its side — killing half of the 400 sheep aboard, UHP troopers said.
The road was closed in both directions until about 3:30 p.m. for recapture and reloading of surviving sheep and to clean up the crash.
The driver was not injured. He was cited for improper lane change, said Brian Smith, Department of Public Safety spokesman.
