EMERY COUNTY — A Moab man died when his SUV collided head-on with a semitrailer Sunday morning on U.S. 6 in Emery County.
The accident happened about five miles north of Woodside at 8:19 a.m., Department of Public Safety spokesman Bryan Hyer said.
Witnesses reported seeing the driver of a Ford Bronco "making erratic passes" before it struck the semi on the driver's side, Hyer said.
The driver of the Bronco, 33-year-old Jared Midgley, died at the scene.
The semi's driver, who swerved to try to avoid the collision, was taken to Castleview Hospital in Price with minor injuries after his truck ended up on its side.
Hyer said there was no indication drugs or alcohol were involved, but it appears Midgley was not wearing his seat belt. The crash is still under investigation.
Traffic was stopped for about 15 minutes, Hyer said.
