OREM — A Spanish Fork male caretaker was arrested Thursday on suspicion of sexually assaulting a mentally challenged man he cared for.
The 20-year-old caretaker was at a group home in Orem and working at night when he started asking the 24-year-old with the mental capacity of an 8-year-old about sex, according to a police affidavit filed in 4th District Court.
Police say the caretaker waited until everyone else was asleep and allegedly sexually assaulted the victim.
When questioned by his employer, the caretaker said the incident did happen but was consensual, according to the affidavit.
Austin Peay was terminated from his job and was booked into jail on investigation of sexual abuse and exploitation of a vulnerable adult.
