Utah Department of Transportation crews will close I-15 in both directions between I-80 in Salt Lake County and I-215 in Davis County between 10 p.m. Saturday and 10 p.m. Sunday.
Also, the southbound off-ramp at 600 North will close at 10 p.m. Saturday and remain closed for about two months.
As an alternative, motorists are encouraged to use I-215 to I-80, Legacy Parkway and FrontRunner Commuter Rail. As an alternative to the 600 North closure, motorists can use U.S. 89 and the 400 South off-ramp.
The weekend I-15 closure is for demolition of the 800 North bridge. UDOT is building a new bridge over I-15 at 1000 North, with completion expected in spring 2010. The demolition is part of I-15 EXPRESSLink, which is replacing bridges and adding high-occupancy vehicle lanes, also called express lanes, in each direction from 500 North in Salt Lake City to the I-215 ramp in Davis County by fall 2010.
The 600 North closure is for crews to widen the road and rebuild ramps.
