Grizzlies play preseason opener at Logan
LOGAN — The Utah Grizzlies open their preseason schedule here tonight when they will take on the Idaho Steelheads at 7 p.m. at the Eccles Ice Center.
Tickets for the game are available for $7 at www.utahgrizzlies.com or through the rink in Logan.
The Grizzlies will then travel to McCall, Idaho — approximately 100 miles north of Boise — on Saturday for another game against the Steelheads at the Manchester Ice and Events Centre. It will be the Grizzlies' second-ever trip to McCall. They first faced the Steelheads there back on Oct. 13, 2005, in a preseason game.
The Grizzlies open their 2009-2010 regular season on Oct. 16 in Las Vegas, with the home-opening E Center weekend being Oct. 23-24, when they will host Idaho. Utah enters its fifth year in the ECHL and its third season as an affiliate of the New York Islanders. On Sept. 16, the Grizzlies announced that they will also be adding up to four prospects this season from the Calgary Flames. Head coach Kevin Colley returns to the Utah bench this upcoming season after signing a multiyear contract extension in April. Colley, who at the age of 30 is the youngest coach in the ECHL, guided the Grizzlies to the playoffs for the third time in four years during his rookie head-coaching campaign
