SHOSHONE, Idaho (AP) — An Idaho boy says his father warned him to stay with his sister, be careful and avoid nearby farm fields before setting out to trek several miles along a desolate highway last Christmas Day.
Bear Aragon, 13, testified Thursday in the trial of his father, Robert Aragon, 56.
Robert Aragon is charged with involuntary manslaughter for allowing his 11-year-old daughter, Sage, and Bear, to walk up to 10 miles in freezing conditions to their mother's home after his car got stuck in a snowdrift.
Sage didn't survive the hike and died of hypothermia. Her body was found by rescuers early the next day covered in snow. Bear survived by taking cover in a single-stall restroom at a recreation site.
Bear was the final witness in the prosecution's case against Aragon.
