A community meeting has been scheduled by the organizer's of a local cooperative grocery market will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 7, at The State Room, 638 S. State.
Organizers of the Wasatch Cooperative Market will discuss information about their progress, including formal incorporation, business licensing, and the kickoff of the co-op's initial owner drive.
The Wasatch Cooperative Market is envisioned as a consumer-owned grocery store that sells high-quality natural, healthy, sustainable foods, goods and merchandise, with an emphasis on products produced locally where possible. The market will be open to owners and non-owners.
A marketing and feasibility study is planned to determine a good location for the store, though the co-op will likely be in a Salt Lake City-area neighborhood such as Sugarhouse, downtown, the Avenues or the University of Utah.
