NEPHI — A Kentucky man was ejected from his vehicle after it rolled in Juab County Sunday.

Richard Cooper, 38, was driving north on I-15 about 5:15 a.m. when his vehicle flipped on its side, slid 20 feet and flipped back over to land on its wheels in the median, Utah Highway Patrol trooper Corey Houskeeper said.

The man was ejected from the vehicle and transported first to Central Valley Medical Center in Nephi before being flown in serious condition to Provo's Utah Valley Regional Medical Center.

A passenger in the vehicle was transported for minor injuries. The couple had been traveling from Las Vegas and crashed about 20 miles from Yuba Lake, Houskeeper said.

Cooper was not wearing a seat belt. Troopers said they were unsure what caused him to lose control, but the accident is under investigation.
