NFL Sunday

Published: Sunday, Oct. 4 2009 12:00 a.m. MDT

Game of the week

Jets at Saints: It's an unlikely but spectacular pairing of 3-0 teams. The Saints' high-powered offense may meet their match in the Jets' blitzing and unpredictable defense. Rookie QB Mark Sanchez will face a much-improved Saints defense.

Team on the rise

Broncos: They won one game on a miraculous play and defeated two terrible teams. But 3-0 is 3-0 and the Broncos are doing better than anyone expected.

Team on the decline

Titans: Their 0-3 record is one of biggest disappointments of the 2009 season. Time is running out, and if they lose to the Jags today, start looking to 2010.

NFL rankings

1. Giants: Defense was historically dominant in an impressive win over Buccaneers.

2. Ravens: Breezed to win over Browns, but face much tougher challenge today.

3. Colts: Showed there's more to them than just Peyton Manning in win over Cards.

4. Vikings: Rallied to beat quality opponent last week, now it's time for Favre Bowl I

5. Saints: Offense doesn't need to score 40 points every week for them to win.

6. Jets: Rookie coach-quarterback tandem of Rex Ryan and Mark Sanchez still perfect.

7. Patriots: Looked like Super Bowl contenders for the first time in win over the Falcons.

8. Eagles: Sitting pretty at 2-1 after quarterback Donovan McNabb missed two games.

9. Falcons: Matt Ryan and the rest of his crew wildly disappointed against the Pats.

10. 49ers: Suffered a heartbreaking defeat last week, but now face hapless Rams.
