WOMEN'S SOCCER: The Wolverines fell 2-0 to Portland State on Friday afternoon at Clyde Field in Orem in the team's final tuneup before Great West Conference play begins next week.

The Wolverines (1-9-0) hit the road to open conference play in the Great West's inaugural season next Friday at North Dakota and Sunday at South Dakota.

In Friday's loss, the fifth in a row for UVU, the Vikings (5-5-1) got a goal in each half from Dolly Enneking to earn the win. Enneking scored her fifth goal of the season in the 17th minute on an assist from Michelle Hlasnik.. Her second-half goal came on a penalty kick in the 58th minute.

The Wolverines were out-shot 22-11 overall and 11-6 on goal. Down 2-0 midway through the second half, Utah Valley mustered three close attempts but a Katey Turner shot was deflected away by PSU keeper Cris Lewis, Adrienne Schneider's breakaway attempt went wide right and a shot fired by Lauren Bluth hit the crossbar.

Lewis had five saves with the Vikings also picking up a team save while UVU keeper Tasha Bell had eight saves.

WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL: The Wolverines remained in first place in the Great West Conference with a 25-20, 25-17, 25-21 victory over South Dakota Friday night.

The Wolverines (10-5, 3-0) and NJIT (11-5, 2-0) are the only teams in the league without a conference loss.

In Utah Valley's fifth consecutive win, Kayli Broadbent recorded 18 kills after having just seven in a win over North Dakota Thursday night, while Camie Manwill added 10 kills and nine digs and Dani Robison tallied a personal season-high six kills.

The Wolverines take a break from Great West Conference action Monday night when they host Boise State at 7 p.m. at the Shurian Family Activity Center.

The match can be seen live on UVU-TV.

UVU returns to GWC play Oct. 8 and Oct. 10 when the Wolverines travel to Chicago State and NJIT, respectively.
