S.L. chamber series opens with trio
The Chamber Music Society of Salt Lake City opens its 2009-10 season Wednesday with the Trio Con Brio Copenhagen.
The trio, consisting of violinist Soo-Jin Hong, cellist Soo-Kyung Hong and pianist Jens Elvekj?, met while students in Vienna. The group will be making its local debut with this concert.
On the program is Beethoven's Piano Trio in D major, op. 70 ("Ghost"); Mendelssohn's Piano Trio in C minor, op. 66; and Smetana's rarely played Piano Trio in G minor, 15.
A few other ensembles will be making their first appearance in Salt Lake City through CMS or returning after lengthy absences.
Among old friends who are coming back is the Emerson Quartet. They'll close out the season on April 28, 2010, with an all-Dvorak program that will include the quartets op. 51 and 106.
