FOOTBALL: The National Junior College Athletic Association has named Snow College quarterback Quinn Mecham (Timpview High School) the National Offensive Player of the Week.
Mecham led the Badgers to a 47-14 dismantling of Glendale Community College Saturday, completing 20 of 27 passes for 340 yards and six touchdowns.
Mecham has passed for 1,355 yards in five games this year. He leads the nation in touchdows thrown (20) and touchdown to interception ratio (10:1), throwing just two interceptions to the 20 touchdowns.
"Quinn has been the type of quarterback that we knew he would be," said Snow College head coach Steve Coburn. "He makes great decisions and makes very few mistakes."
Mecham has led the Badgers to a 4-1 record and the No. 9 ranking in the country. The offense is averaging 415 yards a game going into the Badgers contest at Mesa Community College Saturday.
It's not the first time Mecham has been honored with the title. During his freshman campaign, Mecham was named national offensive player of the week while filling in for injured quarterback Jon Eastman, who now plays at Colorado State University.
