"Wherefore, my beloved brethren, reconcile yourselves to the will of God, and not to the will of the devil and the flesh." (2 Nephi 10:24)

To be reconciled is to be restored to friendly relations with a person after a period of estrangement. It has the sense of the restoration of friendly relations with oneself or another. It also has "reference to the restoration of humanity to God through the incarnation and sacrifice of Christ" (Oxford English Dictionary). Connected to this is the additional religious idea "to restore oneself to God's favor through one's prayers and deeds" (OED). It is this type of reconciliation that brings one back into peace or favor.
