HILL AIR FORCE BASE — Airplane Talk for the month of October will feature two B-17 crew members, a former congressman and the 388th Fighter Wing commander.
Talks are held at 1 p.m. on Saturdays in the Hill Aerospace Museum theater and offer patrons a perspective on aviation experience. The programs are free and open to the public.
October's schedule is as follows:
Oct. 3 — Wayne Ottley, a ball turret gunner in the B-17 during World War II, will share his experiences.
Oct. 10 — Tom Demery, a B-17 radio operator, will share his experiences, which include 35 missions over Europe.
Oct. 17 — Former U.S. Rep. Jim Hansen, R-Utah, will discuss his role in establishing a permanent site for the Air Force Memorial and assuring funding for future weapon systems production, as well as his civil aviation experience.
Oct. 24 — Lt. Col. Mel Pollard will share his experiences in the F-4 in Vietnam. Pollard also flew the T-38 and was in the first graduating class of the Air Force Academy.
Oct. 31 — Col. Scott Zobrist, commander of the 388th Fighter wing at Hill, will discuss his flying experience in the F-16, T-37 and T-38.
