MEN'S GOLF: Utah Valley University wrapped up play at the Purple and Red Invitational on Tuesday with sophomore Andrew Carlin's one-over 73 leading the way. Jeff Holmes was the top overall finisher for the Wolverines at Valley View Golf Course in Layton, tying for 32nd place with a 54-hole score of seven-over-par.

Carlin was second among UVU golfers at eight-over, tied for 36th, while Noah Cook was nine-over and tied for 40th. Nicholas Tarasiewicz shot a three-over 75 in Tuesday's final round and finished at plus-13, in 53rd place. Utah Valley finished in 11th place overall.

Paul Norman, who competed in the tournament individually, also shot a three-over 75 and tied for 40th along with Cook.

The University of Utah won the team title by defeating Arkansas Little Rock in a playoff. The Utes erased a 20-shot deficit after beginning the day in seventh place. Levi Garcia of Cal State Bakersfield won medalist honors with a two-shot victory over Sacramento State's Jake Johnson.

Up next for Utah Valley is the 18-team Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate Oct. 5-6 at Classic Club in Palm Desert, California.
