Utah Associated Municipal Power Systems is introducing two new consumer efficiency programs modeled after Rocky Mountain Power's "Cool Cash" and "See Ya Later Refrigerator" programs.
UAMPS members who sign up for the new programs can offer their residential electric utility customers cash incentives and long-term energy and cost savings for participating. UAMPS represents 52 power generators throughout Utah and seven other Western states.
The first program, "Cool Cash," encourages installation of evaporative cooling systems and/or the proper sizing and installation of high-efficiency central air conditioning equipment after Thursday, Oct. 1. Customer incentives for evaporative coolers range from $100 to $1000, while dealer incentives range from $25 to $300. Customer incentives for central air conditioning systems range from $50 to $150, with dealer incentives range from $25 to $75.
UAMPS' is also instituting a new "See Ya Later Refrigerator" program, in which customers call to schedule a fridge pick-up and receive a $30 cash incentive, along with an information packet about energy efficiency and instant savings measures.
