A hunter discovered a marijuana farm Wednesday in Morgan County, the fourth such discovery statewide in the last month, officials said.
Six individuals were seen harvesting the plants, prompting a rapid search and seizure operation by narcotics agents from Weber and Morgan counties and the FBI, according to a news release.
The suspects fled into nearby forest toward Summit County, leaving behind a well-established camp with stoves, food stores and sleeping bags. A search by foot and by helicopter did not locate them.
Law enforcement officials spent the next two days filling a dump truck with 3,270 plants capable of producing more than $6.5 million worth of marijuana.
Officials believe the operation is related to a farm that yielded 1,238 plants worth $1.4 million when it was discovered Sept. 10 on private property about a half-mile away.
The latest finds follow the dismantling of a $9 million field in Tooele County and one containing 20,000 plants in Wayne County.
