FILLMORE — A Sandy man was injured Friday afternoon in an all-terrain vehicle accident in Millard County.
Alfred "Stormy" Lupus, 66, drove off the Chalk Creek Canyon Road on a curve at the top of Cedar Springs Canyon near Fillmore and rolled 50 yards down an embankment, according to a Millard County Sheriff's Office news release.
Lupus was traveling south at low speed on the rough, steep road when he missed an abrupt turn to the west just after 4 p.m., officials said.
Ambulance crews rushed to the scene with the help of rescue workers, and Lupus was transported by an ATV to a landing zone where a medical helicopter could reach him.
He was flown to a northern Utah hospital, complaining of head, neck, back and hip injuries in addition to numerous lacerations and abrasions.
