LEEDS, Washington County — A 13-year-old boy died in southern Utah after being partially ejected in a one-car rollover, the Utah Highway Patrol said.
Brandon Christopher Arduino-Boggs of Sandy Valley, Nev., was traveling south on I-15 with his father near Leeds when the accident occurred Wednesday night, said UHP trooper Cameron Roden.
Around 9:15 p.m., the pair's 1996 Cadillac Eldorado veered to the left and the driver overcorrected to the right, causing the vehicle to slide across two lanes before it rolled off to the right, ultimately landing on its top, officials said.
Roden said authorities are still investigating the crash, but believe the driver's "impairment," either by drugs or alcohol, and high speeds were major contributors to the accident.
The driver, who was wearing a seat belt, sustained minor injuries. The boy was not wearing a seat belt.
