Sister of accused Jewel stalker: Man needs help
TOWNSEND, Wis. (AP) — The sister of a Wisconsin man accused of stalking singer-songwriter Jewel at her Texas ranch says her brother is in need of help but hasn't responded to the family's attempts to contact him.
Susan Richter said Wednesday that her brother, Michael Lawrence Kozelka, had a hard time holding a job and recently lost his house to foreclosure.
Richter says Kozelka hasn't had any contact with the family for nearly two years, but she apologized to Jewel and her husband on his behalf.
Erath County sheriff's officials say Kozelka was arrested last week after he went to the Stephenville, Texas, ranch owned by Jewel's husband, rodeo champion Ty Murray, on two consecutive days.
Sheriff Tommy Bryant says the 50-year-old Townsend man told authorities he was on a mission from God.
