PLAIN CITY — It took a final count of provisional ballots to determine that Plain City Mayor Jay Jenkins made it through the primary election to face a challenger in November.

The Sept. 15 primary concluded with Glen Willie with 211 votes and with Jenkins and Jennybeth Koford tied for second place with 159 votes.

Plain City recorder Diane Hirschi said 28 provisional ballots made the difference and pushed Jenkins into second place with 172 votes to Koford's 167.

Willie finished with a final count of 217 votes in the election canvass, which was certified Tuesday night.

The general election will be Nov. 3.
