UDOT to close freeways on nights, weekends for bridge construction

Motorists should plan for freeway closures in upcoming nights and weekends through the end of October while the Utah Department of Transportation replaces six bridges in Salt Lake, Utah, Summit and Davis counties.

The following areas in Salt Lake County will be affected:

The 600 North southbound I-15 off-ramp in Salt Lake City will close on Oct. 10 for about two months.

Northbound and southbound I-15 near 600 North in Salt Lake City will be closed for 24 hours from 10 p.m. Oct. 10 to 10 p.m. Oct. 11 for demolition of the 800 North bridge. The northbound detour will be I-80 to I-215 or Legacy Parkway, and the southbound detour will be I-215 or Beck Street.

I-80 eastbound from State Street to 2300 East will be closed from 8 p.m. Oct. 17 to 2 p.m. Oct. 18. The detour east to Parleys Canyon will be I-15 to I-215 east, where it reconnects with I-80.

I-80 westbound from Foothill Drive to State Street will be closed from 8 p.m. Oct. 24 to 2 p.m. Oct. 25. The detour to connect to I-15 will be I-215 east.

The following areas in Utah County will be affected:

Northbound and southbound I-15 at Main Street in American Fork will be closed from 10 p.m. Oct. 17 to 6 a.m. Oct. 18.

During the same time, Main Street will also be closed from I-15 to State Street. I-15 traffic will be diverted through the interchange's off- and on-ramps. Motorists should expect heavy delays.

I-15 southbound at Main Street in American Fork will be closed for eight hours from 10 p.m. Oct. 18 to 6 a.m. Oct. 19.

During that time, Main Street will also be closed from I-15 to State Street. Southbound I-15 traffic will be diverted through the interchange's off- and on-ramps. Motorists should expect heavy delays.

The following areas in Davis County will be affected:

I-15 northbound and southbound near the Beck Street exit will be closed for 24 hours from Oct. 24 through Oct. 25. The southbound detour from Davis County will be I-215 or Beck Street. The northbound detour will be I-80 to I-215 or Legacy Parkway.

The following areas of Summit County will be affected:

I-80 westbound near Echo will be restricted to one lane from Wednesday through Oct. 3.

From 10 p.m. Monday to 2 p.m. Sept. 29, the I-80 westbound Echo exit will be closed. Traffic will be diverted to the off- and on-ramps. Motorists can expect delays up to four hours.

I-80 eastbound near Echo will be restricted to one lane from Sept. 29 through Oct. 9.

I-80 eastbound at the Echo exit will be closed from 10 p.m. Oct. 4 to 2 p.m. Oct. 5. Traffic will be diverted to the off- and on-ramps. Motorists should expect heavy delays up to four hours.
