The Texas Roadhouse opened a new location in at 42 E. 1400 North in Logan on Monday. The menu of steaks and ribs is the same as the other 325 locations across the country. The difference is that 100 percent of the profits go to the Andy's Outreach fund, which provides financial assistance to hourly Texas Roadhouse employees following a crisis, such as a fire, unexpected death of a loved one, or medical expenses.

Based in Louisville, Ky., Texas Roadhouse was founded in 1993.

Souperman Gourmet Soups has opened in Heber City at 150 N. Main, serving eight to 10 freshly made soups from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily.

Owner Bob Murphy opened the first Souperman in Park City almost two years ago, Some of the soups offered include chicken noodle, tomato basil, potato cheese, chili, clam chowder, chicken tortilla, split pea and ham. On Fridays, lobster bisque is featured. (www.soupermanparkcity.com )

The Mandarin at 42 E. 1400 North in Bountiful will be closed Sept. 20-Oct. 11. The restaurant will open at 5 p.m. Oct. 12 with Woktoberfest. More than 12 menu items will be featured as small plate portions ranging from $1.49 to $7.99, along with local micro-brewed beer.

Mrs. Fields Cookies will celebrate National Cookie Month by giving away a free chocolate-chip cookie to each customer on Oct. 1, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. There will be other deals and discounts offered throughout the month (www.mrsfields.com or 1-800-COOKIES).

Smith's Food & Drug is replacing its Fresh Values card with a rewards card. Customers earn one point for each dollar spent in the store and will receive $5 for earning 500 points and $1 for each additional 100 points accumulated. Rewards-card certificates spend like cash in Smith's stores.

Wasatch Community Gardens will host the annual Farmer's Formal, Friday, Sept. 25, from 7 to 10 p.m., at the Episcopal Church Center of Utah, 75 S. 200 East, Salt Lake City. This event features cuisine from local chefs, live music by the Bueno Avenue String Band and live and silent auction items. Tickets are $50 in advance, $65 at the door (www.wasatchgardens.org/farmersformal.html).
