SOUTH OGDEN — Two jail inmates are being investigated in connection with a July shooting that sent one man and two children to the hospital, police said Monday.

Daniel Lopez, 18, and Christopher Reed, 18, both of Sunset, were booked Friday for investigation of illegally discharging a firearm, South Ogden police officer Marci Edwards said.

On July 10 two men fired two weapons, a 22-caliber rifle and a 12-gauge shotgun, into a home near 3600 Porter Ave. Edwards said police believe Lopez and Reed fired "multiple rounds" and hit a 29-year-old man and two children, ages 5 and 6.

At the time of the incident, all victims were listed in serious to critical condition, but Edwards said only the male victim has "lasting physical issues," and both children are "doing well."

Edwards said the shooting is gang-related, because both Lopez and Reed are "known, active gang members" and the victim "has been previously documented as a gang member."

Both Lopez and Reed are being held at the Davis County Jail, where they were already being held on unrelated charges.
