Mormon accordion virtuosa loves the energy

MIDWAY, Wasatch County — Janet Todd might be no bigger than a minute, but she's a giant on stage.

The diminutive accordion-playing Mormon grandmother has been making her musical magic for audiences since she was 12 and performed at a bar mitzvah. (She played the traditional "Hava Nagila" after hearing the Jewish tune sung once by the rabbi.)

In college, she toured Europe with BYU's Program Bureau.

Todd said LDS Church members had called to let BYU know she was enrolling, which is why she was greeted at the bus station by director Janie Thompson and immediately swooped into BYU activities and the Program Bureau.
