'Beauty' opens this week

The theater season is in full swing with many theaters offering new productions. Here are this week's openings:

"Beauty and the Beast," Sept. 25 - Nov. 13, Terrace Plaza Playhouse, 99 E. 4700 South, Ogden.

Join Belle, Maurice, Gaston and the Beast as the Terrace Playhouse brings the favorite Disney musical to life. With memorable tunes like "Be Our Guest," and the title song. Starring: Shelby Ferrin, Jeremy Hall, Annie Ferrin and Jordanne Burges.

Shows are Friday, Saturday and Monday nights, 7:30 p.m., $7-$12 (801-393-0070 or (www.terraceplayhouse.com).

"Forever Dead," Sept. 25 - Oct. 31, Off-Broadway Theatre, 272 S. Main.

A hilarious parody by Stuart Ross, based on the popular musical "Forever Plaid." A revival of lovable losers (Bloodz - Dracula; Frankie — Frankenstein; Barky — Werewolf and Sphinx — Mummy) who missed their true callings. Starring Scott Bahlmann, Joel Hanson, Eric Jensen and Jim Hardwick.

Shows are Friday, Saturday and Monday nights, 7:30 p.m., with Saturday matinees available, $8-$16 (801-355-4628 or (www.theobt.org).

"To Kill A Mockingbird," Montana Repertory Theatre, Sept. 26, Eccles Center, 1750 Kearns Blvd., Park City.

Paying homage to great American theater and literature, Park City Performing Arts Foundation brings the classic story of Boo Radley, Tom Robinson, Atticus Finch and his daughter Scout. Based on Harper Lee's Pulitzer Prize-winning novel, performed by the Montana Repertory Theatre.

Show begins at 7:30 p.m., $18-$65 (435-655-3114 or (www.ecclescenter.org).

"The Glass Menagerie," Utah State University, Sept. 24 - Oct. 3, Caine Lyric Theatre, 28 W. Center St. Logan.

The award-winning Tennessee Williams play, set in St. Louis in 1937, describes the life of the Wingfield household. The play is a powerful tale that shows what happens when fragile dreams clash with reality. Starring Jared Rounds, Anne Werner, Aubrey Campbell and Nate Kluthe.

Shows are Oct. 24-26 and Sept. 30- Oct. 3, 7:30 p.m., $13 (435-797-8022 or (www.boxoffice.usu.edu).

"Fiddler on the Roof," Sept. 24-26, Heritage Center Stage, 5600 N. Heritage School Drive, Provo.

The beloved Broadway classic, featuring songs like "Matchmaker, Matchmaker," "If I Were A Rich Man," and "Sunrise, Sunset."

Shows are nightly, 7:30 p.m., $8-$10 (801-226-4600 or (www.heritagecenterstage.org).
