Grizzlies trade defenseman to Nailers

WEST VALLEY CITY — Utah Grizzlies have traded defenseman Slavomir Tomko to the Wheeling Nailers in exchange for future considerations. The Grizzlies acquired Tomko from Elmira in June.

"We were excited to add a defenseman the caliber of Slavomir earlier this summer," said Colley. "However, with us yesterday adding our new working agreement with the Calgary Flames, along with our current affiliation with the New York Islanders and the influx of talent both will be providing us, we felt that it was best for Slavomir to be given a chance to develop to his full potential in an environment where he will be able to get more ice time." Utah enters its fifth year in the ECHL and its third-straight season as an affiliate of the New York Islanders.
