Plain City is still awaiting a count of provisional ballots to determine the top vote-getters from Tuesday's primary election.
Mayoral candidate Glen Willie has a solid lead with 211 votes, but Plain City Mayor Jay Jenkins and challenger Jennybeth Koford are tied at 159 vote apiece, said Plain City Recorder Diane Hirschi.
The city's 28 provisional ballots have been turned over to Weber County to verify, Hirschi said. Absentee ballots that haven't been received yet could also play a role in the final count.
Hirschi said she didn't know when county officials would finish their work, but she said time was of the essence because an official tally is needed by Tuesday.
In other Weber County elections, incumbents who ran for election in Farr West, Harrisville, Hooper, Ogden, Pleasant View, Roy and Washington Terrace were among the candidates who will advance to the general election Nov. 3.
But some elected officials will be noticeably absent from the ballot in November.
South Ogden Mayor George Garwood didn't run for re-election, opening up the possibility for two current council members, Vickie Mattson and James Minster, who will face off in November for the mayor's seat. Minster led the four mayoral candidates in South Ogden with 370 votes, followed by Mattson with 275.
South Ogden will say goodbye to either Mattson or Minster in January, because both of them were up for re-election as City Council members, too.
John W. Bradley, a South Ogden councilman who came in third place in the mayor's race, will remain on the council because his term won't expire for two years.
Jennifer Canter, a councilwoman from West Haven, failed to make the cut Tuesday, landing in fifth place in a field of seven candidates for a four-year seat on the council.
North Ogden Mayor Gary Harrop's term in office will end in January, when a new mayor is sworn in. Harrop lost out to Councilman Richard Harris, who had 605 votes, and resident Reed Mackley, who had 647 votes.
