I'm dismayed by the Deseret News' coverage of the Sept. 12 "March on Washington." The small Sunday headline said there were "tens of thousands," but looking at the picture on the next page, it was clear to anyone with eyes there were many more people present! Come to find out today the estimates are 1.8 to 2 million people — probably the largest march on Washington in history! That's a pretty big difference.
This story is phenomenal. We are seeing a true grass-roots rebellion rising among the citizens of this country — history in the making — and the Deseret News is essentially reacting with a yawn. I've noticed that the Deseret News relies on Associated Press articles for many of the national stories it runs. I think it does readers a disservice. Since there are many in this country who wish to downplay or ignore the growing outrage over this administration's out-of-control spending and grab for power outside the limits of the Constitution, I see this minimizing of the march on Washington to be part of that agenda. I would at least have liked to see a follow-up story that corrected misconceptions from the first story — instead, silence.
