PROVO — Thomas S. Monson, president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, will speak at a BYU devotional at 11:05 a.m. Tuesday at the Marriott Center.
President Monson — also the chair of BYU's Board of Trustees — has served as the church's 16th president since Feb. 3, 2008, having served as a counselor in the First Presidency before that since Nov. 10, 1985. He was called to the church's Quorum of the Twelve in October 1963 at the age of 36.
The current LDS Church president traditionally speaks at one of the first BYU devotionals of the fall semester each year.
