Three people were arrested and investigators were looking Monday for at least one other following a weekend fight between rival gang members that left at least two people injured.

Just before 1:30 a.m. Saturday, police were called to the area of 900 South and 300 West on a report of a stabbing, said Salt Lake police detective Dennis McGowan.

One of the men who was later arrested found out his girlfriend was at a party, and "he did not like the people she was with," according to Salt Lake County Jail records. So the man rounded up some friends and went to the house.

"He admitted that he was going there to get the girl (redacted) and was going to fight," jail documents stated.

One of the boyfriend's associates entered the house "holding two glass beer bottles in a manner to be used as dangerous weapons," according to jail documents.

During the ensuing melee, one person was stabbed eight times and suffered a punctured lung, jail records stated. That person was transported to the hospital in critical condition. A second victim suffered minor cuts. A third victim also was taken to the hospital in critical condition after being run over by a car driven by one of the assailants.

Nicole Burningham, 19, Alvert Mike, 18, and Jose Perez-Garcia, 18, were arrested and all booked into the Salt Lake County Jail for investigation of attempted homicide and obstruction of justice. Mike also was booked for investigation of aggravated burglary.

The search continued for a fourth person Monday. Anyone with information can call police at 801-799-3000.
