WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL: The Salt Lake Community College volleyball team is ranked third in the NJCAA Division I National poll.

Salt Lake has a record of 10-2 with its only two losses coming against No. 2-ranked North Idaho College. SLCC has impressive wins against No. 4 Western Nebraska, No. 7 Missouri State-West Plains, No. 8 College of Southern Idaho, No. 14 Northeastern College and No. 19 Arizona Western.

Freshmen Ame' White leads the team offensively with 70 kills, followed by sophomore Whitney Nilson and freshmen Shelbi Zaldain, both with 69 kills. Zaldain also leads the team with 25 service aces.

Salt Lake has proved to be solid on the defensive side of the ball, holding opponents to 1.7 kills per game, digging 13.9 balls and 2.1 blocks per game.

No. 3 Salt Lake returns home October 3rd to take on Snow College at Bruin Arena. Match time set for 7pm.

On Friday, the Bruins won two matches on the road against Yavapai (25-20, 25-14, 25-10) and a five-set thriller against No. 19 Arizona Western (22-25, 25-18, 25-23, 23-25, 15-13) at Scottsdale, Ariz. With the two wins, third-ranked SLCC is now 12-2 and 5-1 on the road.

Sophomore Melissa Fifita led the third-ranked Bruins with 11 kills and five digs in the three set win against Yavapai (25-20, 25-14, 25-10). Erika Charry hit six kills and blocked two and LaKell Havens connected on four aces from the service line.

Against Arizona Western, Ericka Charry had 13 kills and six blocks. White killed 10 balls with the help of Catalina Charry, who finished with 36 sets. Libero Kim Gourley dug 15 balls from the back row.
