With the loss, the Aggies fall to 3-2-1, while the Roadrunners improve to 3-3 with the home win. USU is in the midst of a three-match winless streak after losses to UTSA and No. 20 Oklahoma State and a tie against Wyoming. The series with the Roadrunners is now tied 1-1 with both teams winning on their home field.

"Their early goal really put us on our heels, and we had to press the entire rest of the game," USU head coach Heather Cairns said. "They didn't have to worry about creating and did a good job of limiting our opportunities. The outcome was a result of two things the opportunities that they gave us we didn't do enough with them, and the opportunities that they gave us were few and far between."

UTSA capitalized on their first possession and their first shot on goal less than a minute into the match. Junior forward Allison Dillion took a corner kick from freshman forward Kara Hoffman and put the ball in the back of the net, slipping the ball past USU sophomore goalkeeper Molli Merrill.
