Regarding the current health-care bill before Congress, recent polling data suggest that 52 percent of Americans oppose President Barack Obama's handling of this issue. In his speech this week, he said that the time for "bickering" is over. I would remind our elected representatives not to push for quick passage of this bill or any other piece of legislation without the open and vigorous debate that needs to occur in our republic.
