SPRINGFIELD, Mass. — Though his hoops career has taken him around the world, Jerry Sloan admitted recently that he's never even set foot in the Basketball Hall of Fame.
That's about to change.
In a sense, he'll never leave Springfield, Mass., again.
Neither will John Stockton.
The jazz">Utah Jazz icons will be infused into basketball immortality tonight when they are inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. Stockton and Sloan will be joined at the enshrinement ceremony (4:30 p.m., ESPN) by fellow Hall inductees Michael Jordan, David Robinson and Vivian Stringer in a power-packed class.
Meaning, of course, the basketball greats' trip together to the sport's shrine will be a memorable one. Unforgettable even. Just like the journey that got them there.
