President Monson to speak at BYU

LDS Church President Thomas S. Monson will speak at a BYU campus devotional at 11:05 a.m. Tuesday in the Marriott Center.

BYU TV channels and byubroadcasting.org will broadcast the devotional live. Rebroadcast and archive information is available at byub.org/devotionals or speeches.byu.edu.

President Monson became the 16th president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Feb. 3, 2008. He had served as a counselor in the First Presidency since Nov. 10, 1985. He was ordained a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles Oct. 10, 1963, at the age of 36. Prior to that time, President Monson had presided over the church's Canadian Mission from 1959 to 1962.

Professionally, President Monson has had a distinguished career in publishing and printing. He graduated cum laude with a bachelor's degree in business management from the University of Utah. He earned his MBA at BYU and also received an honorary doctorate of law from the university.
