WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL: The Griffins begin Frontier Conference action with two road games in Montana this weekend. They open against Montana Tech (6-7) in Butte on Friday, Sept. 11. The trip concludes on Saturday, Sept. 12, in Dillon against Montana Western (4-5).
Westminster begins conference action with a 3-9 overall record. They went 1-3 at all three tournaments they have played in to date. Last weekend, Westminster picked up a win over Northwest (Wash.), while falling to Oklahoma City, No. 10 Vanguard, and No. 3 Cal Baptist.
The Griffins had their best offensive weekend at the Labor Day Tournament last weekend. They hit .214 over the four matches while posting 13.0 kills per set. They also recorded 15 service aces and had 262 digs. Westminster currently leads the Frontier Conference with an average of 11.9 kills and 17.8 digs per set.
Freshman Ashley Marchant currently leads the team with 130 kills, averaging 3.17 per set. Marchant has led the team in kills in nine of the 12 matches the Griffins have played this season. She set a career high with 18 kills against Oklahoma City last weekend. Marchant is third in the conference in kills and 12th in hitting efficiency through the first three weekends.
WOMEN'S SOCCER: The Westminster women's soccer team has two more games on Dumke Field on the schedule for this weekend. Westminster will host Embry-Riddle Aeronautical (Ariz.) on Friday, Sept. 11. That is followed on Saturday, Sept. 12 with a game against College of Idaho. Both games will begin at 11:30 a.m.
The Griffins bring a 3-4 overall record into the week and have won three straight. They picked up two wins at home last weekend against Kansas Wesleyan and Great Falls. They have outscored the opposition 8-1 during their current three-game winning streak.
Sarah Swenson currently leads the team with five points behind two goals and one assist. Swenson scored the game winning goal in each of the team's two wins last weekend. Nicole Taylor currently leads the Frontier Conference with 21 total shots, an average of three per game.
Dayna Winter-Nolte has taken over as the starting goalkeeper. She posted back-to-back shutouts for the first time in her career last weekend. In the process, she lowered her goals against average to 1.25.
MEN'S SOCCER: The Westminster men's soccer team will play three games in three days on Dumke Field this weekend. The Griffins face Adams State on Friday, Sept. 11 at 4:30 p.m. On Saturday, Sept. 12, Embry-Riddle will face the Griffins at 2 p.m. The weekend concludes on Sunday, Sept. 13, against Bellevue at 1:30 p.m.
