ANAHEIM, Calif. — Reliever Rafael Rodriguez is among five Salt Lake Bees players added to the Los Angeles Angels' roster for the playoff push.

Rodriguez began his fifth stint of the season with Los Angeles on Tuesday.

Catcher Ryan Budde, outfielder Terry Evans, third baseman Freddy Sandoval and outfielder Chris Pettit also joined the Angels following the conclusion of the Bees' season on Monday.

Rodriguez was sent back to Triple-A Salt Lake on Aug. 30 after losing a decision to Oakland. Opponents have scored against the rookie right-hander in 10 of his 15 appearances with the Angels this season.

Sandoval and Budde got their first callups of the season after appearing with the Angels last fall. Evans was recalled earlier this season, but didn't play in a game.

LINCECUM SCRATCHED: SAN FRANCISCO — San Francisco Giants ace Tim Lincecum was scratched from his scheduled start Tuesday night against San Diego because of spasms and inflammation in the lower left side of his back.

Giants manager Bruce Bochy said he hopes Lincecum, the reigning NL Cy Young Award winner, will take his next turn in the rotation and will only need a couple of days of rest to let the back calm down. That start could be as soon as Sunday against the NL West-leading and archrival Los Angeles Dodgers.

The Giants began the day two games behind Colorado in the NL wild-card race.

Lincecum, who was undergoing treatment and unavailable to the media, was seen by a back specialist on Tuesday and underwent tests. He's also taking anti-inflammatories for the injury and will be re-evaluated later in the week. Bochy isn't sure when the injury happened, but Lincecum mentioned it after the team's flight home Sunday from Milwaukee.

4 PHILLIES HAVE 30 HOMERS: WASHINGTON — The Philadelphia Phillies are the 12th team in major league history to have four players to hit 30 home runs in a season.

Raul Ibanez went long for the 29th and 30th times this season and Chase Utley hit No. 30 in Tuesday night's game against the Washington Nationals. They joined Ryan Howard and Jayson Werth in Philadelphia's 30-homer club.

The last major league team with a 30-homer foursome was the 2006 Chicago White Sox. The last NL club was the 2004 Chicago Cubs. The Phillies accomplished the feat for the first time in franchise history.

MARINERS RELIEVER INJURED: ANAHEIM, Calif. — Seattle Mariners reliever Sean White will have an MRI on his sore right shoulder Wednesday, and is expected to be sidelined the rest of the season.

White hasn't pitched since Aug. 28, when he made his eighth consecutive scoreless appearance. A non-roster invitee to spring training, the right-hander is 3-2 with a 2.80 ERA and career highs of 64 1-3 innings and 52 appearances this season.
