Utah County residents are invited to celebrate people who have overcome alcohol and drug addiction, at a public festival Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Utah County government building in Provo.
Free food, live music, a climbing wall and bouncy castle will be provided for participants in the Recovery Day celebration. Bruce Chandler, program services manager for the Utah County Division of Substance Abuse, said the event is "a tribute to those who have fought long and hard to become clean from drugs and alcohol."
According to the division, alcohol- and drug-abuse rates have risen rapidly over the past several years, with methamphetamine, marijuana and alcohol as the most frequently used substances.
