Salt Lake City Mayor Ralph Becker's spokeswoman for the past three months abruptly announced her resignation late Monday.
"Effective tomorrow, I will be resigning as deputy communications director for Mayor Ralph Becker," Marla Kennedy wrote in an e-mail sent to media outlets around 10 p.m. Monday. "I enjoyed working with each one of you."
Kennedy provided no reason for her departure, and attempts to reach her for comment were unsuccessful.
Her resignation was not the result of a falling out with Becker, said communications director Karen Hale.
"It was just a difference on approach," Hale said, declining to elaborate. "We really appreciate the work Marla did. She served the city really well."
Kennedy moved from the Exoro Group to City Hall in June, replacing Helen Langan as the mayor's spokeswoman. Langan now acts as a senior adviser to the mayor.
Hale said the administration is now searching for a full-time replacement for Kennedy.
