Utah is poised to cut a deal to permit Las Vegas to pump and pipe billions of gallons of water annually from Utah's Snake Valley. This deeply flawed and premature deal could devastate area farming, wildlife and recreation, cause dust storms and harm the snowpack along the Wasatch Front.
After years of secret negotiations, the state is only accepting written comments on this draft agreement until Sept. 30 and will not hold any public hearings to gather oral comments. So the Great Basin Water Network and the Utah Association of Counties are holding their own citizens hearing on Wednesday, Sept. 9 at 6:30 p.m. at the Salt Lake County Complex, 2100 S. State, Room N-2003. This is the public's chance to speak out. It's our air and our water at stake!
