Bees continue hot streak on Budde's walk-off homer

What ingredient was added to the Salt Lake Bees' pot recently?

Whatever it has been, someone should figure out how replicate it next season. The Bees continued their hot streak with a 5-4 walk-off win against Sacramento Saturday at Spring Mobile Ballpark.

Much like the previous night, the Bee's bats were on fire. Terry Evans roped a line drive solo homer to take the 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second.

The River Cats made a strong push in the third — with back to back singles putting runners at first and third with one out. But that's when Chris Pettit would deliver an incredible play. After Sacramento hit a blooper midway to left field, Pettit gunned down the runner at home who tagged up on the play — ending the inning in dramatic, double-play fashion.

Salt Lake added two more runs in the third on hits by Evans, and Freddy Sandoval off Sacramento's star pitcher Chad Reineke.

Just when the Bees looked to have the game in control — the 'Cats proved that they have the best record in the PCL for a reason. Sacramento drilled middle reliever Daniel Davidson for three runs.

The River Cats led by a run in the final inning, but with two outs in the ninth Ryan Budde hit his second career walk off home run.

"It's the Bees way, it's the Angels way," said Budde, "It ain't over until it's over, just keep pluggin' away until that last out's made."

"It couldn't have happened to a nicer guy," said Bee's manager Bobby Mitchell.
