FRISCO, Texas — Jaime Moreno's penalty-kick goal in the 58th minute lifted DC United to a 2-2 tie with FC Dallas on Saturday night.
The draw moved DC (7-5-12) into a five-way tie for the final three MLS playoff spots, while Dallas (6-11-6) watched its postseason hopes fade further.
Moreno's seventh goal of the season and 129th of his career, adding to his MLS record, followed a questionable red card issued to Dallas defender Daniel Torres. Chasing DC's Santino Quaranta, Torres was ruled to have tripped the DC forward, but replays clearly showed that Torres never touched him. Dallas, which played the rest of the match a man short, had gone ahead 2-1 on David Ferreira's fifth goal of the year in the 50th minute.
Jeff Cunningham moved into a tie with Ante Razov for second place on the MLS career goal list with 114, connecting for his 10th of the year to put Dallas ahead 1-0.
Moments later, Cunningham almost gave Dallas a two-goal lead when he rang another shot off the post.
Dave van den Bergh assisted on both Dallas goals, giving him a team-high eight and moving him into a tie for second in the league.
DC tied the match just before halftime as Marc Burch scored his first goal of the season off a free kick. It was the third free kick of the match by Burch. Dallas goalkeeper Dario Sala made nice saves on the first two, but the third nicked off the inside of FC Dallas defender Pablo Ricchetti's foot, changing direction just enough for the ball to elude Sala.
WIZARDS 4, REVOLUTION 2: At Foxborough, Mass., Josh Wolff had two goals and the Kansas City Wizards snapped a seven-game winless streak with a 4-2 victory over the New England Revolution on Saturday night. Wolff scored the game-winning goal in the 73rd minute and added a second tally
RAPIDS 1, TORONTO FC 0: At Commerce City, Colo., Conor Casey scored in the 51st minute to lead Colorado over Toronto. FC on Saturday night.
Matt Pickens recorded his seventh shutout of the season and 18th of his career for Colorado (10-7-6), which has won two straight overall and five of six at home.
Casey scored his MLS-leading 12th goal of the year. Omar Cummings passed to Jacob Peterson, who pushed the ball ahead to Casey, whose header sailed past goalkeeper Stefan Frei's left shoulder.
Toronto (8-9-7) failed to score for the fourth consecutive road game and was blanked for the seventh time overall this season.
