Theater companies offering workshops

If you've secretly wondered if you have what it takes to get up on stage or work behind the scenes, this is your lucky month.

Two theater companies are offering workshops to help fine-tune your skills.

Improv Classes, Tuesdays, Sept. 8-29, 7-9 p.m., Egyptian Theatre, 328 S. Main, Park City.

Paul Tan and John Spung will host improv comedy classes where participants will learn to act and read, and improve public speaking skills. Come laugh and have fun in a supportive atmosphere.

Cost for the series is $50. Call 435-962-4548 for more information or to make reservations.

Two separate workshops will be hosted by Wasatch Theatre Company as part of its Page-to-Stage Festival. The workshops are free and will be held at Rose Wagner Center, , 138 W. 300 South.

Playwriting workshop, Sept. 12, 10 a.m. This workshop is open to anyone at any skill level. Led by Megan Crivello, WTC's resident playwright, and local playwright Karrie Ann Ogilvie, the workshop will offer tips and techniques. Participants are invited to create scripts that will be read during a staged reading at the close of the festival.

Directing workshop, Sept. 19, 10 a.m. Beginning and experienced directors are invite to learn more about the directing process from Sallie Cooper and Mary Lee Anderton, both of whom have decades of experience.
