TACOMA, Wash. — The Salt Lake Bees' three year run as the PCL's Pacific Northern Division champions came to an end last night. The Bees lost 11-2 at Tacoma, while Colorado Springs defeated Portland 12-9 to mathematically eliminate Salt Lake.
The Rainiers took control early in the game, as they scored nine unanswered runs on 12 hits. Bees' starter Mike MacDonald (8-12) took the loss, as he allowed nine runs on 14 hits in five innings of work.
BEESWAX: The Los Angeles Angels have recalled right-handed pitcher Sean O'Sullivan, right-handed pitcher Rich Thompson, outfielder Reggie Willits, catcher Bobby Wilson and infielder Brandon Wood from Triple-A Salt Lake.
To fill the roster spots in Salt Lake, the Angels reassigned right-handed pitcher Dan Denham, infielder Nate Sutton and catcher Flint Wipke from Double-A Arkansas, along with right-handed pitcher Eddie McKiernan from Single-A Rancho Cucamonga, to the Bees.
