Early Sunday morning, a 23-year-old woman was sexually assaulted after a party at an apartment complex.
Salt Lake Sheriff's Lt. Don Hutson said that shortly after 9 a.m. the woman woke up in an alley beaten and battered. She contacted police and reported she had been sexually assaulted.
The woman had attended a party at in the 1500 East block of 3300 South with acquaintances and friends. Some of her relatives who left the party around 7 a.m. said the woman was "fine and doing OK," Hutson said. When the woman awoke she had marks on her neck that indicated strangulation and bruises on her body. It was unclear what caused the woman to lose consciousness.
Shortly after the woman reported the incident Salt Lake County SWAT obtained a warrant to search the residence where the party was held. A 27-year-old man was arrested and booked into the Salt Lake County Jail for investigation of sexual assault.
