Salt Lake Acting Company has hired Jason Bruffy, artistic director of the Know Theatre in Cincinnati, as its new artistic director.
"He was the unanimous choice of the board, staff and search committee. He is a gift from heaven," Nancy Borgenicht, SLAC's interim executive producer, said in a release. "Theater is clearly in his young bones. Most impressive of all, he has enormous grace. We are very lucky and very happy."
Bruffy has won numerous awards for direction, design and extraordinary events. He will begin his duties at SLAC in mid-September. "I am excited and honored by the opportunity to lead Salt Lake Acting Company into this next chapter of its life," Bruffy said. "SLAC has such a rich and distinguished history within the community of Salt Lake and the national theater scene."
Jeff Syroney, Know's board president, said, "I'm am torn between my happiness for the success of a talented artist and dear friend, and the lamentation of the loss of one of the city's true artistic entrepreneurs."
